Herman Langelan, Jr

Herman W. “Skip” Langelan, Jr. age 55 years of Niles, Michigan died at the Veteran’s Memorial at Riverfront Park in Niles on Wednesday night, May 8, 2013 unexpectedly but of natural causes.

He was born on December 18, 1957 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Herman and Helen (Zampanti) Langelan, Sr. He was raised in the Sister Lakes community and at Three Rivers, Michigan, and has lived in Niles since 2009.

Skip enjoyed the outdoors, spending as much time there as the seasons allowed. He also enjoyed cross country bicycling, and meeting new friends. He was an accomplished artist, specializing in pencil sketches.

Surviving family includes his children, Jaymie (& Mike) Miller and Stacey Langelan, both of Fountain, Colorado, Jasun Langelan and Mallori Langelan, both of Maryland, Kody Langelan of North Carolina, and Tyler Langelan of Dowagiac; grandchildren Aubrey, Allison, Jayla, and Nathan; and Skip’s sisters, Linda Langelan of Sister Lakes, Nancy (& Richard, Jr.) Hart of Niles, and Melissa (& John) Ash of Three Rivers; nieces and nephew Michelle Hassle, Nathan Langelan, and Rishia Langelan; and great nieces and nephew, McKenzie, John, Natalie, and Tayla.

Services for Herman W. Langelan, Jr. will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Amphitheater at Riverfront Park in Niles with the Rev. David Szymczak of the First Church of Christ in Niles officiating. Interment will be private at the Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
