Herbert Rosselit

Herbert Niel Rosselit, age 92 years of Niles, Michigan died with his family gathered around at 10:05 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Brentwood at Niles following an extended illness.

He was born on March 14, 1924 in South Bend, Indiana to Gilbert and Elinor W. (Frank) Rosselit, and has lived in Milton Township since 1954. He was employed for over 30 years at Bendix Corporation in South Bend, retiring in 1987.

Herb served in the United States Navy, and was a veteran of World War II. His sense of duty continued, as he served in Milton Township as Supervisor, Clerk, and on the Planning Commission board.

On February 18, 1950 in South Bend he married the former Gertrude T. Zeisz with whom he celebrated last month the remarkable Sixty-sixth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes his wife, Gert Rosselit and their children, Chris (& Ila) Rosselit of Niles, Terri Wielgos of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Tom (& Louisa) Rosselit of Niles; and grandchildren Ellen Rosselit, Kara Rosselit, and JP Wielgos.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elinor Blanch Wisler.

The family of Herbert Rosselit will gather privately at the Halbritter Funeral Home to share memories and honor his life, and to recognize his military service with the United States Navy Honor Guard.
