Biography Kevin M. Radlein, age 55 years of Iron River, Michigan died one year ago on October 30, 2012 at his home, following an extended illness. His mother, Grace M. Radlein, age 85, of the same home died on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Cathie Radlien’s home in Niles following a brief illness.
Grace was born on August 10, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Freida (Mellin) India. She was graduated from high school in Chicago, and lived there most of her life. She was a member of the Edison Park Lutheran Church in Chicago, and enjoyed raising german shepherds and collies. She was well known for her Italian cooking, especially the pasta sauce with cinnamon, and had a great sense of humor.
Kevin was born on August 6, 1957 in Chicago to Kenneth V. and Grace (India) Radlein and was graduated from Taft High School in Chicago. He was employed for many years at Andrew Johnson automotive parts. He was a great fan of the Chicago Bears football team and enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and fishing. In retirement, he moved to Iron River where he owned and operated the Wild River Motel and Campground. His mother followed him to the U.P. in 2003. He was formerly married to Cathie Edgell of Niles.
In 1948, Grace married Kenneth Radlein who preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael India in 1990 and by her children (and Kevin’s siblings) Kent Radlein in 1986 and Miss Kim Radlein in 1986.
The joint memorial service for mother, Grace Radlein and son, Kevin Radlein will be at 11:00 a.m. (Central time) on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Edison Park Lutheran Church in Chicago with Carol Edwards, Associate in Ministry at Edison Park Church officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
Contributions in memory of Grace Radlein may be made to Hospice at Home. Contributions in memory of Kevin Radlein may be made to the Mayo Clinic. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
