Gordon Detwiler

Gordon R. Detwiler, age 63 years of Niles, Michigan died at 5:55 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles following an extended illness.

He was born on July 15, 1950 in Middlebury, Indiana. He attended school in Middlebury, and has lived in Niles since 1993. He was employed at the former National Store Fixture plant in Niles.

Gordon enjoyed the fellowship of area taverns.

He was preceded in death by his father, and by a grandson, and a brother, Jimmy Miller.

Surviving family includes his son, Nathan (& Deanna Aumack) Detwiler of Elkhart, Indiana; mother, Dorothy Mae Miller of Elkhart, and brothers Frank Miller of Elkhart, Stan Miller of Holly, Michigan, Phil Miller of Perry, Florida, Mark Miller of Florida, Edward (& Brenda) Miller of Perry, Florida, and Mike Miller of Perry, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Gordon Detwiler will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church in Niles officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at Noon on Friday. Contributions in memory of Gordon may be made to the donor’s choice.
