Jay Severinghaus, 46 of Niles, passed away, on his birthday, after suffering injuries from a motorcycle accident.
Jay was born on May 18, 1977 in Benton Harbor to the late Robert and Marilyn (Dunn) Bowen.
On January 25, 2019, he married the love of his life, Janette Severinghaus.
Jay is survived by his child, Rain Amira Doe and step-son, Alex (Tiaira Tedder) Severinghaus of Niles, his brothers, Francis Dunn, William Bowen and Kenny Bowen, sister, Cheyenne Wakefield, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Jay was a member of the AM Vets in Niles. He loved playing pool and was on the APA League. Jay had a loving and helping nature about him. He would, at a moment’s notice, drop everything to help someone in need. He was a jack of all trades, always successful with his projects. He was loved by all who knew him.
He was employed at Modineer as a welder and forklift driver in Plant 10. Jay loved watching sports, especially, the L A Lakers and University of Michigan football. He had a deep love for his family and also for his dogs and bearded dragon, Haus. He and Janette always enjoyed having camp fires in their backyard. Jay also enjoyed having the latest and most fashionable shoes.
In keeping with Jay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life on July 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Amvets Post 1978 1117 E. Bertrand Rd. Niles.
