George Roberts, 85, left this world on the same day that he entered it, 85 years earlier.
George was born on May 17, 1936 in Manchester Tennessee to the late Wilburn ‘Jack’ and Erma Mae (Brown) Roberts. He is also preceded in death by his brother Jack ‘Tony’ Roberts.
On June 27, 1959 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Niles he married Madeline who survives.
George is survived by his wife of 61 years Madeline and their children; Sherry Anne (Steve) Chiodo of Niles, and Scott George Roberts of Buchanan, grandson Joshua Day (Madison Koziel) Money of Buchanan.
George graduated from Niles High School in 1954. He was soon drafted into the Army where he honorably served our country. George then worked as a Meatcutter, a Salesman for Hormel Meats and then for National Standard where he retired.
George will be remembered as one of the ‘Martin’s Coffee Club’ who met daily to solve the world’s problems and share a cup of coffee with his friends. An avid fisherman, George was a member of Bassmasters. He also was a voracious reader. George also enjoyed playing Poker. He was an amazing storyteller. George may have embellished his stories, just a bit, to make them funnier.
He was a man of many talents. He was proficient at plumbing, electrical work, auto repair, and the list goes on. It was said of George, “Some people had a Dad. We had a Jack of All Trades”
