George Boston

October 22, 1931 — August 31, 2017

George Edward Boston, age 85 years of Berrien Center, Michigan died peacefully at 12:22 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 with family gathered around at this home following a brief illness.

He was born on October 22, 1931 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Clarence Albert and Helen Elizabeth (Crawford) Boston.  He was graduated from high school in East Liverpool, and began his employment at the Crucible Steel Company in nearby Midland, Pennsylvania.  In 1952 he joined the United States Army, was stationed with the Army of Occupation of Germany, was promoted to Corporal, and was discharged as a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He came to Berrien Center, and was employed at Gast Manufacturing for thirty-eight years prior to retirement.

George was a member of the Sister Lakes Community Church.  He enjoyed his vocation of machine repair - even at home – along with other yard and home maintenance; even climbing a ladder onto a roof in his 80’s!  He looked forward to dressing-up for dinner and live music every Saturday night at D’Agostino’s Navajo Bar & Grille.  His greatest joy was his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise (LaMunion) Randall on December 16, 2014; by a granddaughter, Autumn Mehl on February 13, 2016; by four children, and by his parents and siblings.

Surviving family includes a daughter, Betty Lou Mastin of East Liverpool; step-children Cheryl (& Don) Wilke of Berrien Center, and Larry Vay Struble of Niles; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family of George Boston will gather at their home at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 to share memories and honor his life, and will be led by Pastor Scott Stambaugh of Sister Lake Community Church.  Burial next to his wife will be private.  Arrangements were made at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles, Michigan.
