Fabern Wayne Sturgeon
April 26, 1946 – August 21, 2022
Fabern Wayne Sturgeon, 76 of Niles, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 in Lakeland Hospital St. Joseph.
Wayne was born on April, 26, 1946 in Vilonia, AR to the late Richard and Dora (Phillips) Sturgeon
Wayne is also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Sturgeon in 1982.
Wayne is survived by daughters; Dawn (Jodi Oswald) Wolkens of Jacksonville, FL and Elizabeth (Nathan Stankiewicz) Luttrell of Sparta, WI, grandchildren; Austin Sturgeon, Sierra Pease-Sturgeon, Scarlet Luttrell, Anthony Luttrell and great granddaughter, Abagail. Wayne is also survived by long time companion, Cora Osborne.
Wayne honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge, he held several jobs ultimately being a Truck Driver for Preston Trucking and retiring from Towne Air Freight. Wayne was a proud member of Teamsters Local #364.
Wayne was an avid outdoors sportsman. He was a member of the Berrien Rod and Gun club and the NRA. He enjoyed feeding the turkeys, deer and birds that would visit his yard. He also custom made recurve bows and his own arrows, some of which he passed on to family members.
He loved history but loved his family more than anything. His presence will be forever missed.
Visitation for Wayne will be on Monday, August 29, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30am at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles. A funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 10:30am. Burial with military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
