Evelyn M. Hardebeck, age 95 years of Niles, Michigan died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at West Woods of Niles following an extended illness. She was born August 21, 1920 in Lisbon, North Dakota to John and Christina (Linzbach) Hardebeck.
Evelyn was retired from the National Standard Wire Company in Niles after more than 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of Saint Mark Catholic Church in Niles where she served with the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Niles American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Evelyn loved Notre Dame football, enjoyed playing cards and dice and never missed The Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday nights.
Surviving family includes one sister, Marjorie Turk of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth “Sis” Leonard, Lucille “Tudy” Robinson and Helen Thompson and brothers, Albert Harsdebeck, Henry “Hank” Hardebeck, Gerhard “Gay” Hardebeck and Harv Hardebeck and special friend and companion Marcia “Annie” Marlin.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn M. Hardebeck will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Saint Mark Catholic Church, Niles by The Very Rev. Joseph Richards of the Diocese of Crookston, Minnesota with The Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C. of Saint Mark’s concelebrating, assisted by Brother Dennis Meyers, C.S.C. Committal Rites at Mission Hills will be read by Rev. Richards.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8:00p.m. on Monday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the recitation of The Rosary at 7:30p.m led by Rev. Richards. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Saint Mark Catholic Church.
