Biography Elnora Hogan, age 86 years, of South Fifteenth Street in Niles, Michigan died at 12:58 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles following a brief illness.
She was born March 19, 1926 in Cedarbluff, Mississippi to Willie & Mary Frances (Scott) Reives. She was raised in the Baptist faith, and has lived in Niles since 1994, coming from Chicago, Illinois.
Elnora was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses of Niles. She enjoyed cooking and gardening both flowers and vegetables. She would often be seen waving at passers-by and distributing Watchtower Literature.
In 1945, in Iverness, Mississippi whe married Charlie Hogan who preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by their son, Willie Lee “Sonny” Hogan in 1994, and their daughters, Ruth Jane Hogan in 1998 and Arlene Towers in 2010; and by Elnora’s siblings, James Henry, Scott, Nathaniel, Rufus, Frank, and Will Reives, and Willie May, Lula Mae Jones, and Ozzie Lee Lyes.
Surviving family includes sons Charles Hogan, Jr. of Chicago and “Bobby” Neal Hogan of Niles; daughters Stella Jackson and Lula Hernandez, both of Chicago, Ernestine Felton of Niles, Olivia Hogan of Chicago, and Michelle Myers of South Bend, twenty-six grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and Elnora’s sisters, Louise Terry of West Point, Mississippi and Agene Reives, and brother, Eddie James Reives of West Point; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will gather privately for services at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses.
