Ellie Price, age 19 years of Buchanan, Michigan died at 9:12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan following an automobile accident on U.S.131 in Grand Rapids.
She was born on July 6, 1993 in Wisbaden, Germany to William C. and Janna Kay (Gibson) Price. She has lived in Niles, Michigan and Three Oaks, Michigan most of her life, and was graduated from Brandywine High School where she had played varsity softball and basketball. She was currently a student at Southwestern Michigan College, and was on the Dean’s List for her first semester.
Ellie was always active, usually with family or friends, traveling and shopping, and enjoying the beach in Saint Joseph and in New Buffalo. Some of those friends remember her “lighting-up a room” when she entered, and another recently wrote: “She made an impact on every one of us, with her caring heart and her blunt statements”. Above all, she loved Jesus, and had worshipped with several area congregations.
Surviving family includes her parents, Janna Gibson of Niles and William Price of Buchanan; brother, Jake Price of Niles; grandparents, Mary Jane (& Davis) Newman of Haines City, Florida, Marlene (& Bill) Adams of New Buffalo, Michigan, and Reece (& Jill) Price of Cassopolis, Michigan; great-grandmother, Estella Fisher of Battle Ground, Washington; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Noel Gibson.
The funeral service for Ellie Price will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Hope Community Church in Niles with Pastor Rich Zeiger of the Real Life Community Church of Three Oaks officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hope Church, and beginning at Noon on Monday at the church.
Contributions in memory of Ellie may be made to Autism Speaks, 1 East 33rd Street, 4th Floor, New York, New York 10016, appreciating Ellie’s affection for her cousin, Gabe. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
