Ellen Day

Ellen M. Day, age 88, of Hartford, Michigan died on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at her home unexpectedly, but of natural causes. She was born July 29, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to George W. & Ethel M. (Hysell-Goodacre) Peterson. On July 12, 1941 in Benton Harbor, Michigan she married Darrell L. Day, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 17, 1982.

Ellen lived in Niles for 10 years before moving to Hartford in 1983.

She is survived by daughter Patricia E. (Allen) Hill of Hartford and son Darrell L. (Linda) Day, Jr. of Watervliet, Michigan. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Mark (Amy) Hill of Coloma, Michigan, Michelle (Terry) Laymon of Stevensville, Michigan, Michael Hill of Hartford, Lori Hannan of Spokane, Washington and Todd Day of Keeler, Michigan and 4 great-grandchildren; Brianna Day, Brittany Day, Katie Hannan and Brian Merritt. Also surviving is brother Clifford Hysell of Lawton, Michigan.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Florence Dowlen and brother Donald Hysell.

Funeral services for Ellen M. Day will be held at 1:00p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles with Pastor David Gilbert of Hartford Federated Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at Noon until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
