Elizabeth G. “Betty” Langendonk Kyle, age 85 years formerly of Niles, Michigan died at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Barrington Assisted Living in West Chester, Ohio following an extended illness.
She was born on November 19, 1928 in Michigan City, Indiana to Homer and Martha (Adrian) Frame. She was graduated from Three Rivers (Michigan) High School, and has lived in Niles for many years, moving to Ohio in 2008. She was employed for many years at the former Cavalier Color in Niles, and then at Circle Camera at University Park Mall in Granger, Indiana.
Betty was formerly an active parishioner at Saint Mark Catholic Church, and then at Saint Mary Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the Niles Garden Club, and a member of the Niles Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for more than twenty years. She enjoyed photography, maintaining a dark room at home for many years. She also enjoyed painting and crafts, but her greatest love was her family who remember her strength and spirit, and the love they received from her.
On January 27, 1951 she married Robert J. Langendonk, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1966. Later, on May 20, 1978 she married Robert E. Kyle who preceded her in death on July 24, 2006.
Surviving family includes her children, James (& Darlene) Langendonk of Slidell, Louisiana, Linda (& Wayne) O’Brien of Liberty Township, Ohio, Susan (& Fred Barton) Langendonk of Laingsburg, Michigan, and David (& Karen) Langendonk of Saint Joseph, Michigan; step-daughters Linda (& Mike) Andrews of Niles, Terri (& Larry) Brusky of Niles, and Susan (& Paul) Stephan of Tennessee; grandchildren, Mary Sue (& David) Slack, Jami, Jennifer, and Nicole Langendonk, Robert O’Brien, Brian and and Stephanie Langendonk; great-grandchildren Emma Rose, Trevor, Kaylie, and Mason; and Betty’s sister, Mary Coleman of Niles and brother, Robert (& Pat) Frame of Niles, and many nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Mass for Elizabeth Langendonk Kyle will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Saint Mary Catholic Church by The Rev. David Otto of the parish. Committal Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Saint Mary Parish Center (219 South State Street, Niles) beginning at 11:30a.m. on Saturday. Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to the American Cancer Society; or to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
