Edna Mary Radecki, age 90, of Lewis Drive, Niles, Michigan died on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Hospice House in South Bend, Indiana following a brief illness. She was born September 10, 1921 in South Bend to Glen and Stella (Grabraz) Jacobs.

Edna was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. She was a member of Saint Mark Catholic Church in Niles and retired from Simplicity Pattern Company after several years of service. Edna enjoyed cooking and working in both her vegetable and flower gardens.

On August 27, 1949 in South Bend, Edna married Richard B. Radecki, who preceded her in death on May 3, 2005. From their union survives daughters Becky (& John) Glover and Janice Murphy and son Randy (& Tammy) Radecki, all of Niles, 4 grandchildren; Tim, Amy, Randal and Rachel, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by one brother; Paul (& Phyllis) Jacobs of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Dora Boggs, Margaret Boggs and Virginia Grooms, brother Andrew Jacobs and son-in-law Gary “Murph” Murphy.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Edna Mary Radecki will be celebrated at 9:30a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Saint Mark Catholic Church, Niles, by The Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C. of the church. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger with Military Honors.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4:00p.m. and from 6-8:00p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:30p.m.

Donations in memory of Edna may be made to the Hospice organization of choice or to the American Cancer Society.
