E. Faye Hoskins Turner, age 85 years of Niles, Michigan died at 6:40 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. The family is grateful for the compassionate care of Grace Hospice’s “Rick” during Faye’s final hours.
She was born on December 18, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana to Harold and Hazel Faye (Keller) Hoskins. On August 8, 1950 she moved with her husband from Mishawaka, Indiana to the home he had built in Niles where she lived the rest of her life.
Faye was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the American Legion Post #344 in Galien. She was also a member of her Neighborhood Breakfast Club. She was an avid mushroom hunter, and enjoyed camping throughout Michigan and Indiana. She was a fan of old country music.
On November 8, 1945 in South Bend she married Edward D. Turner with whom she had celebrated the fifty-sixth anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on November 18, 2001. She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Edna Youree, Pearl Fedeli, Harold Hoskins, and Donald Hoskins.
Surviving family includes her children, Nancy Crane of Evanston, Illinois, Michael (& Cathy) Turner of Niles, and David (& Julie) Turner of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kristopher Turner, Marcus Turner, Jonathan Turner, Jeremy Turner, Amanda Turner, and Molly Crane; and Faye’s sister, Betty Rosenhagen of Niles and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Faye Turner will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Cathi Huvaere of Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles officiating. Committal will follow at the Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Faye may be made to Grace Hospice, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
