Dorothy Eilene Morros, age 87 years of Niles, Michigan, mother, grandmother, sister, traveler, charitable donor, and great cook died unexpectedly at 12:42 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana following a brief illness.
She was born on February 18, 1935 in Niles to Ralph and Eilene (Cochran) Cochran, and was graduated from Niles High School. She was employed as a secretary in the offices of First Source Bank for many years, and had also worked in the offices of the former Bendix Automotive. She lived in Niles most of her life, but had also lived in the state of Washington, and both North and South Carolina.
Dorothy enjoyed travel, had visited many of the United States, and had traveled internationally including Germany and Ireland. At home, as a younger woman, she enjoyed cooking, providing her family with a wide variety of dishes, but is best remembered for her lasagna.
She was pleased to financially support several organizations that reflected her interests including the Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
She was first married in 1955 to Harold Dean Heiermann who preceded her in death in 1980. In 1987 she married Ray Morros who preceded her in death in 2021. She was also sadly preceded in death by her son, Steve Heiermann on August 23, 2017, and then tragically just days later by her daughter, Theresa Haines on August 30, 2017; and by Dorothy’s brothers, Ralph Cochran, Bob Cochran, and Dale Cochran.
Surviving family includes her sons, Mark (& Gail Grahl) Heiermann and Scott (& Debbie Kulwicki) Heiermann, both of Edwardsburg, Michigan; grandchildren Nathan (& Airella) Heiermann, Nicole (& Matt) Rousclup, Stephanie Rupert, Matthew Heiermann, Rebecca, Stephen Heiermann, Jr., Andrew Heiermann, and Amanda (& Leland); great-grandchildren including Tyline, John, Kynzie, Jane, and Wynn; and Dorothy’s sister, Barbara (& Robert) Bisby of Menasha, Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Dorothy Morros will gather privately to honor her life and share memories. Dorothy clearly loved life, working as a productive member of her community, traveling to see other communities, and contributing to like-minded organizations that enhance the greater good. But even more, she loved her family, supporting and caring for them.
