Doris E. “Sue” Bowman, age 57 years of Niles, Michigan died at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles unexpectedly but following an extended illness.
She was born on September 17, 1956 in Niles to Otis Franklin Lintz, Sr. and Delores Ilene Frantz. She was graduated from Niles High School, and lived here all of her life.
Sue was employed for many years in the Deli department of the former DeMond’s Super-Value grocery store in Niles. She enjoyed caring for her family, and for many who considered her as family.
On October 22, 1983 in Niles she married John S. Bowman who preceded her in death on December 15, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Marie Bowman; by her parents, Otis Lintz, Sr., and Clyde and Helen (Lintz) Frantz, Sr.; and siblings Pat Lintz, Otis Lintz, Jr., Louise Percy, and Robert Frantz.
Surviving family includes her children, Shawnette Baker, Thereasea Baker, Trenity Bowman, and Amanda (& John) Oaks, all of Niles, Sherry of Buchanan, Michigan, and John Scott Ames of Edwardsburg, Michigan. She was a grandmother for many including eight of her own and a great-grandson. Also surviving are her mother, Delores Golden of Niles and siblings Mildred “Diane” Lintz, Terry Lintz, Ted Lintz, Clarence “Sonny” Frantz, Jerry Frantz, and Clyde “Skip” Frantz, all of Niles and Patricia Karn of Delong, Indiana, and Mary Jane Hiler of Watervliet, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Doris Bowman will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Mike Elsey of Ontwa Baptist Church in Edwardsburg officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Contributions in memory of Sue may be made to the donor’s choice.
