Debra Jean “Debbie” Peel, age 57 years of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Niles, Michigan died at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 at her home in Las Vegas following an extended illness.
She was born on July 11, 1956 in South Bend, Indiana to Leon Edward and Barbara Jean (Glaser) Peel. She was graduated from Brandywine High School in Niles in 1974, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Services from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
In Niles, Debbie was employed at the family businesses, Peel’s Supermarket and Bell Travel. In Las Vegas, she was currently employed at Prestige Travel agency.
Surviving family includes her children, Nicole Diekema, Annette (& Derrick Reno) Diekema, and Adam Diekema, all of Las Vegas; a grandson, Brendan Reno; Debbie’s mother, Barbara J. Peel of Las Vegas, and brother, Terry L. Peel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and sisters, Kathryn M. (& Michael) Holy of Buchanan, Michigan and Barbara Jo “Barbie” Danley of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon E. Peel on April 4, 2008.
The funeral service for Debbie Peel will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Cathi Huvaere of Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles officiating. Committal will follow at the Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
