Darrell Duane Pence, 71 of Niles passed away at South Bend Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 18, 2022.
Darrell was born on November 22, 1950 in Dowagiac to the late Neil and Margaret (Prescott) Pence.
He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years Patricia (Pilot) and brothers, Gary and Patrick.
On November 25, 2000 he married the former Donna Lee Bretschneider.
He is survived by his wife, Donna and children; Sara Pence of South Bend, Derrick (Tammy) Pence of Buchanan, Tom Perrin of South Bend, Bill Perrin of Cassopolis, grandchildren; Brennen (Emily Dollins) Dorman, Whitney (Robert Howard) Whitmire, RJ (Natalie White) Whitmire, Alex, Brigitte, Charles and Daniel Perrin, Lucas, Jacob and Leona Perrin, Great Grandchildren; Isaiah and Lily Howard, his brother, Neil (Carol) Pence, Jr.
Darrell had honorably served in the United States Army. He had worked at Campbell Ford as an Auto Body Technician. He more recently worked for Tom Naquin.
Darrell had a special love and appreciation for all things Detroit Tigers, Lions and Redwings. Darrell and Donna even went to the Lions game on November 25, 2010 to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Darrell and Donna went to as many of the games as they could and when they couldn’t be there, they would make sure to catch the Lions, Tigers and Redwings games on TV. His love of sports didn’t end there. He was also a Chicago Cubs fan (since they’re in a different league). Darrell was also an avid bowler. He and Donna were involved in the Bowling Association for many years and were also very involved in Bowl for the Cure.
If you knew Darrell, you knew of his deep love of his family. Donna said that he loved to ‘spoil’ her. He was attentive to her needs and did all he could to create a loving household. Darrell would often go out to lunch with his daughter Sara and his brother Neil. The time he spent together with them was always treasured.
