Cheyenne Lee West, infant daughter of Dustin Michael and Ashly Nicole (Mitchell) West of Berrien Springs, Michigan died unexpectedly just before her birth at 8:21 a.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital in Niles, Michigan.
Ashly has been aware of Cheyenne for most of the past thirty-three weeks, and remembers periods of great activity, with some calm times in-between. Dustin remembers watching Cheyenne’s activity from across the room, and once being kicked awake – but not by Ashly.
Cheyenne’s family includes her parents, Ashly and Dustin West and Cheyenne’s brother, Dustin “DJ” West and sister, Ashlyn West; grandparents Karen West of Watervliet, Michigan, Billy Mitchell of Eau Claire, Michigan, Virginia Williams of Berrien Springs, and Ted (& Renée) Krajecki of Berrien Springs; and three uncles and an aunt, Joseph Mitchell and Angela Williams, both of Berrien Springs, John (& Elizabeth) West of Watervliet, and Robert (& Michelle) West of Elkhart, Indiana.
The family of Cheyenne West will be reminding each-other about her, especially when they see a beautiful sunrise, or blooming flower, or sometimes totally unexpectedly when they hear a special tune. They will be pleased to hear her name spoken to them by those who love them, and love Cheyenne. Please do so.
Arrangements were made at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles. Online condolences may be left at:

Cheyenne’s life has been providing smiles and twinkling eyes with the expectations of meeting her face-to-face. The mystery of her unexpected passing is providing tears . . . for a while. But the smiles return to her parents as they speak of Cheyenne passing-on to the next life, still active and kicking . . . and waiting for us.
