Bob Eaves, age 84 years of Lansing, Michigan and former longtime resident of Niles, Michigan died at 9:16 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on February 9, 1930 in Udall, Missouri to Nace Robert and Laura May (Provow) Eaves. He attended school in Hog Danger, Missouri until 1943 when his family moved to Niles where he continued school. He enlisted in the United States Army, and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a barber at the University of Notre Dame Barber Shop for his entire career.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #26 in Niles. He enjoyed the fellowship of playing cards, and enjoyed camping, usually at the Mitchell State Park at Cadillac, Michigan. He was an avid fisherman, with a rod and reel always ready in the car.
Surviving family includes his son, Richard (& Maria) Eaves of Evans, Georgia and daughters, Diane (& Herbert) McGraw of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Donna (& Keith) Berndt of Dimondale, Michigan, and Denise Boger of Newport Beach, California; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and Bob’s sister, Daisy Davis and brother, Claude (& Erma) Eaves; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a twin brother, Billy Eaves.
The funeral service for Bob Eaves will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with a sharing of memories by his family. The service will conclude with the Veteran’s Flag presentation and “Taps” by the United States Army Honor Guard. Interment will be at Mission Hills.
