Beverly Sands, 71, of Buchanan, died peacefully Friday, February 21, 2025 in the comfort of her family’s presence.
Her life began November 13, 1953 in Monette, Arkansas the second of four born to Talmadge and Jennie Blasingame.
When Bev was little her family were migrant workers. Being a nurturer, she was charged with caring for her siblings as they grew up. Her first jobs were, at a Deli in Illinois, later a Fotomat in California, waitress for the stars (where she met Ricky Nelson in an elevator), she made nerf toys, sold Tupperware and Aloette, a cashier at Demonds, and ran a tanning solon with one of her friends. Her most treasured work was being a homemaker and mother. Bev met Chris Sands in 1978, Her sister Phyllis introduced her to him at a gig where he was playing guitar. They married, June 2, 1979. Bev loved music and dancing. She spent hours listening to music deciphering songs for the band. Many nights were spent at the American Legions or bars, watching her love play lead guitar. Bev enjoyed Camping every summer at Nichols Lake, where she would lay out in the sun, the ultimate bathing beauty. Most of all, Bev loved her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
Beverly will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Deanna J. (Mike) Salisbury; son, Michael E Bair; four grandchildren, Ashleigh (Morgan) Weldy, Nate (Jenna Meloche) Paolasso, Meleya (Austin Hedtke) Bair, Gavin Bair; three great grandchildren, Carson, Stormi and Raelynn, whom she adored and spoiled every chance she got; one sister, Jeanie Lay; brother, Steve (Brenda) Blasingame and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chris A. Sands, her parents and her older sister Phylllis.
The family will observe a private remembrance.
