Betty Lou Van Tuyl, 84 of Niles, Michigan died on Saturday, October 26, 2013, unexpectedly of natural causes. She was born July 9, 1929 in Laclede, Missouri and was raised by Daniel W. Taylor and Dorothy Taylor-Pierce, who both preceded her in death.
Betty graduated from Niles High School in 1947. She was a wonderful homemaker, devoting herself to her role as wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed decorating, shopping, and ceramics. Betty was a beautiful person and will be remembered for her spunky sense of humor.
On June 14, 1947 she married Richard F. Van Tuyl. Richard preceded her in death on February 27, 2006, just short of their 59th wedding anniversary.
From their union survives 3 children, Craig (& Pam) Van Tuyl, Candy Van Tuyl, and Carey Van Tuyl, grandchildren, Brandon Van Tuyl and Heather Van Tuyl, a sister, JoAnn Cummins, and 2 brothers, Robert (& Jean) Taylor and Raymond Taylor, all of Niles. Betty is also survived by her beloved aunt & friend, Thelma Kimbal of Brookfield, Missouri.
Funeral services for Betty Lou Van Tuyl will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Chapel at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David Otto of Saint Mary Catholic Church, Niles, officiating.
Donations in memory of Betty may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or to the Humane Society of choice.
