Betty F. Peever, age 88 of Niles, Michigan died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her home unexpectedly, but of natural causes. She was born February 26, 1925 in Jones, Michigan to Earl & Ethel (Flagg) Waugh. On August 31, 1946 in Saint Joseph, Michigan she married Carleton W. Peever, who preceded her in death on January 5, 2010.
Betty possessed a witty personality and loved to write. She had published articles, recipes and was in the process of authoring a cookbook. She enjoyed her flower gardens and watching the birds. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping, which she referred to as, “the trailer life.”
Surviving family includes daughters, Linda L. (Philip) Focht of Cassopolis and Karla S. Peever of Niles, granddaughters, Christi L. (Jim) Johnson of Fort Benning, Georgia, Kimberly L. Whitney of Chicago, Illinois, and great-grandchildren, Marshall E. and Deanna L. Johnson.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Carleton, a grandson, Pete, and brother Carl Junior Waugh.
Funeral services for Betty F. Peever will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles with with the Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
