Betty O'Konski

Betty Jane O’Konski, age 83, of Niles, Michigan died on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hospice House in South Bend, following a brief illness. She was born September 13, 1929 in Hammond, Indiana. On August 1, 1953 she married Steve “Ace” O’Konski, he preceded her in death on May 1, 2002.

Betty enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and sports on television; both college and professional. She liked to visit casinos and also play bingo.

Betty is survived by her daughter Sheena O’Konski of Niles, Sheena’s fiancé John E. Ullery, Jr. of South Bend and a special nephew; Billy (& Wilma) McGill of Niles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry O. & Elizabeth McCarty and a daughter; Debra Jane O’Konski.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Niles and will be officiated by Rev. Charles Zawistowski of St. Mary’s National Catholic Church, South Bend.

Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the organization of donor’s choice.
