Angela Phillips

Angela Lynn Phillips, age 50 years of Niles, Michigan died at 7:56 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016 with her family gathered around at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan. She was feisty to the end as she battled cancer.

She was born on June 24, 1966 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Earl Ray and Darlene Rae (Gordon) Wines. She was graduated from Niles High School, and has lived in Niles and Elkhart, Indiana all of her life. She has been employed for many years at the area Family Dollar variety stores, and had previously been employed at the local Walmart and at Voyager in Elkhart.

Angie enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, canoeing the Saint Joseph River between Mottville and Bristol, and camping on the riverbank. She was a fan of all things branded “Coca~Cola”, and loved her pet dog, Dakota. To those who loved her, she will always be remembered as “Hurricane Angela” or “Fluffy” because of her signature glow-in-the-dark curly hair.

Surviving family includes her daughters, Kyra Parsons of Elkhart and Kellsie Phillips of Marcellus, Michigan; grandson Adrian Hays; Angie’s mother, Darlene Earley of Niles; and Angie’s brothers, Daniel Lee (& Jocelyn) Gordon of Niles and James Earl Wines of Twelve Mile, Indiana; nieces, Kala Wines, Mia Hively, Jami Wines, and Ashton Gordon; and her special friends, Tery Moore and Denay Barlow.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Wines and a nephew, Daniel Gordon who died just two days prior to Angie.

The family of Angie Phillips will gather privately to share memories and honor her life. Contributions in memory of Angie may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service.
