Alice Charlotte Frucci, age 95 years of Niles, Michigan, mother, grandmother, sister, faithful Lutheran, cook, and baker died peacefully at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 with her son at her bedside at StoryPoint Senior Living in Granger, Indiana following a long and blessed life.
She was born on July 17, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to John V. and Sophie (Gundel) Ruggio. She was graduated from Hartford (Michigan) High School, and has lived in Niles since 1961. She was a devoted housewife, homemaker, and mother, keeping a very neat and tidy house, and completing daily cooking and weekly laundry until her 95th birthday.
Alice was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles. She enjoyed flowers, and her husband kept their home decorated with fresh-cut flowers from the carefully maintained flower beds in their yard. She was a great cook, being able to present a wide variety of dishes, and was an accomplished baker, specializing in birthday cakes and all of the Christmas cookies. Her greatest joy was providing a home, food, and clothing for her family. She also enjoyed spending time with them, including attending cars shows throughout the area where “the boys” showed their 1976 Buick Regal in beautiful Potomac Blue.
On December 18, 1954 in Hartford she married Anthony “Tony” Frucci with whom she celebrated the remarkable Fifty-first anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on December 3, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by her sisters, Florence Cornell and Marion Learned.
Surviving family includes her children, Kimberly (& Mark Sheehan) King of Carrollton, Texas and Randall Frucci of Granger, Indiana; grandchildren Lauren King and Brennon King; Alice’s brother John Ruggio of Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
