Donald L. Barker, Jr. 63 of Niles, passed away from natural causes at his home.
Donald was born on July, 22, 1955 in Iaeger, West Virginia to the late Donald L. and Dorothy (Horne) Barker, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his brother William R. Barker and a grandson, Cameron Maust.
On June 24, 1978 in South Bend, he married the former Karen Asire.
Donald is survived by his wife Karen, their children; Jessica Barker of Three Rivers, Donald L. (Kylie) Barker, III of Edwardsburg, Laura (Anthony) Borsa of Bourbon, IN., and Lisa (Scott) Saunders of Niles, grandchildren; Wesley, Taylor, Emily, Isabella, Melissa, Donald IV, Rachael, Jacob, Gwyneth, Audrey, Maddie, Allen, Corey and Ashley. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer (Michael) Young of Granger and his sister-in-law, Sarah (Brady) Rousch of Buchanan.
Donald was a 1973 graduate of Buchanan High School. He then honorably served in the United States Air Force. Donald received honors as a Security Specialist and for his Combat Skills in Terrorism. Returning to Niles, he has worked at French Paper Company for the past 38 years. He was a lifetime member of Bend of the River Conservation Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
Visitation for Donald will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 2pm – 5pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Pastor Thaddeus Stout from 12th Street Baptist Church in Kalamazoo presiding.
Burial will follow in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors from the United States Air Force.
